Robert Kraft Discusses Plans For Gillette Stadium To Feature in 2026 World Cup

Robert Kraft is a celebrated American business leader who is celebrated for his massive sports sector investments. He is the owner of the New England Patriots, a Major League Soccer team that plays at Gillette Stadium.

His influence in the North American soccer scene saw him become one of the leading champions for the united bid for the USA, Canada, and Mexico to host the 2026 World Cup, which was successful. Recently, Kraft mentioned that he was hopeful that Gillette Stadium would host some of the games for the event and discussed his plans to make this happen.

Banking on experience

This wouldn’t be the first time a Kraft-owned stadium is playing host to the World Cup. In 1994, not long after he had assumed leadership of his newly acquired New England Patriots, he led successful efforts to have their Foxboro Stadium host some of the World Cup USA’94 games. He had a grass surface quickly installed at the stadium and minor modifications done to bag this success with not much time left.

The Gillette Stadium, which opened in 2002, faces stiff competition from other new stadiums for the prestigious chance. Robert Kraft said that his experience taking on a similar challenge would go a long way in getting him the victory. He clarified that a significant amount of pitch-side seating would be removed so that the pitch meets the width requirements and new real tuff installed.
